Curry Kitano finally arrived in La Marsa after 4 years of culinary research by its owner.
Why did I start this project as a Japanese in Tunisia?
Because we absolutely love Japanese curry in Japan! It's one of the most popular dishes there.
2012
Arriving in Sfax for a Japanese government project, nostalgia for Japanese curry led me to experiment with local spices. Not speaking Arabic or French at the time, these solitary culinary experiments became my passion.
2016
After returning to Japan to study restaurant management, I opened my first establishment in La Marsa - "Bistrot nippon", specializing in Japanese noodles.
2020
Four years after opening Bistrot nippon, drawing from my experience and years of research since my time in Sfax, I finally perfected my curry recipe and decided to open Curry Kitano.
During my stay in Sfax, although I loved Tunisian cuisine, I deeply missed Japanese curry rice. Without many friends at the time due to the language barrier, I spent my days experimenting with different recipes, using local spices to recreate this dish that meant so much to me. These solitary experiments, though challenging, laid the foundation for what would eventually become Curry Kitano.
I'm truly delighted to share this passion that has driven me since my first days in Tunisia. Our curry is not only delicious but also healthy! I hope you'll come to love it as much as I do!
